This guided tour of the Mosque and Jewish Quarter covers the Mosque-Cathedral of Cordoba and the Jewish Quarter in 3 hours, entering the Patio de los Naranjos and the inside of the monument.
During the tour you'll learn about the different stages of the city and how the old mosque became a cathedral in the 13th century after the conquest by Ferdinand III the Saint. The route continues through the streets of the Jewish quarter to the Synagogue and Maimonides Square, covering the life of the medieval Jewish community, the pogroms of the 14th century and the Mudéjar style of the temple.
The meeting point is the Puerta del Perdón of the Mosque-Cathedral, on Calle Cardenal Herrero, right opposite Sabor a España. Your guide, wearing a visible ID, will meet you there, and from that same entrance the tour begins in the Patio de los Naranjos for about 15 minutes, explaining how the courtyard was used before prayer, the meaning of the ablutions, and its direct connection to the prayer hall.
The central part of the tour takes place inside the Mosque-Cathedral and lasts roughly 90 minutes. The route moves through the areas corresponding to the building's different phases: the Mosque of Abd al-Rahman I with its original 8th-century columns (many reused from Roman and Visigothic buildings), and the extensions by Abd al-Rahman II, al-Hakam II and Almanzor, explaining what each stage added and why the monument ended up with such striking architectural complexity. Along the way you'll reach the Mihrab, the most sacred space, with Byzantine mosaics and inscriptions, and also the cathedral transept, where you'll understand the change of use from the 13th century onward and how the building was adapted for Catholic worship.
The second half moves on foot to the Jewish Quarter, spending around 75 minutes in the old Jewish neighbourhood and the Synagogue. The walk through the cobbled streets helps you picture what life was like for the medieval Jewish community, the character of this reserved quarter, and the social tensions of the 14th century. At the Synagogue of Cordoba, one of the few surviving medieval Jewish temples in Spain, you'll see the Hebrew inscriptions and the building's Mudéjar style. The tour ends at Maimonides Square, in front of his statue, with context on his life as a physician, philosopher and theologian.

The visit lasts 3 hours. Approximately 1 hour 30 minutes in the Patio de los Naranjos and inside the Mosque-Cathedral, and another 1 hour 30 minutes in the Jewish Quarter and the Synagogue. Under the Cathedral Chapter's rules, groups enter and leave the Mosque together with the guide, so you can't stay inside once the tour ends there. In the Jewish Quarter you're free to keep exploring on your own after the route finishes.
